I am retired. I could be doing almost anything else with my evenings. Instead, most nights, I am at a keyboard building something I give away for free, and if you asked me for the business reason, I would not have one. Let me tell you how that happened, because I have come to believe the why matters more than the what.
It started as a small idea. In critical care, the sickest patients throw off a flood of data, and nearly all of it is used to record what already happened. I wanted to see whether a machine could read the public medical data, the drug labels, the adverse event reports, the guidelines any of us can download, and reason forward instead of backward. Not to replace a clinician. To hand one a proactive second look, before a slow harm turned into an obvious one. That was the whole idea. Read the open data, reason toward a safer next step.
